We are taking on the role of Camp Hosts for the month of August. In return for 20 hours a week of helping people, handing out information and other work in the park, we get a free campsite!
Here we are set up on our campsite this morning.....
I get to drive around in this fancy schmancy Cub Cadet with my buckets and shovels. I clean out any of the too-full firepits in between visitors to each of the 112 sites and pick up anything I see laying around out of place.
It rained during the night, and that was a good thing. Steve had some new gravel spread on the site yesterday to take up some of the mud and worn areas. It was pretty fresh and dusty yet last night when we backed into the site. It was tracking in on our shoes and certain little Duke puppy paws.... So the rain overnight has settled the dust down into the gravel and it seems much better.
The sun is shining now, and we are due for a nice sunny weekend with temps in the mid 70's.... So if you are near High Cliff State Park, just east of Appleton, WI., stop on by and say "HI" !!!!
I have thought about you two a number of times in the past week wondering if you had given up on RVing. Sad for your pain, but glad you will have a month of camping time.
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to hear from you again, and I'm glad you didn't require surgery. Are you ok with shoveling ashes from the firepits?
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of another loss in Steve's family.
Enjoy your month as camp hosts. A month of it should be nice, whereas doing it for the entire season wears pretty thin sometimes.
I hope you are feeling better now. Your campsite looks great at the park. Take care of yourselves!
ReplyDeleteWow, you've been through a lot since we last heard from you. I'm sorry for your losses and injuries, and glad you are able to rest and work-camp in such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your bathroom remodel. You guys have done such beautiful work on your home, it's just gorgeous.
Enjoy your month in High Cliff State Park. :)
It's good to hear from you. Hope you are better soon. Don't work to hard and make your injuries worse. Look forward to seeing your renovations. Sorry about another loss.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back...so glad to here from you. We missed your blog.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your loss and your injuries. You and Steve will enjoy your month in your motorhome. I can't wait to see your bathroom makeover.
Take care
As you know, you were greatly missed. I was very concerned about you. What a month you have been through. Hopefully, this month will be a healing one for you.
ReplyDeletetell us more about the campground as we may be heading that way...
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of more heartache for you and Steve. I always thought hosting sounds like a fun way to spend the summer camping and would love to give it a try someday!
ReplyDeleteEven though I keep up with you on Facebook, it's really nice to see you posting. Hope you are recovering okay. I don't think you were quite ready for another dog. It takes a bit of time. Give Dukey some extra hugs and have fun this month.
ReplyDeleteWe have missed you--welcome back!

ReplyDeleteWOW, You have been missed !!!!!!! I thought to myself, that bathroom couldn't be causing this silence.....you two always whip out those modification projects in no time .....just hoping you were not sick but seems like that was part of the problem...... Sorry for all the troubles and heartaches ......
Just know you sure were missed !!!!
Wish I was in Door County and could drive over for coffee and some of the great looking coffee cake but most of all a chat ..... Love your jazzy cart ..... Have fun and a good rest .... My Duke says hi to your Duke !!!!
Yesterday was my husband's youngest brother's funeral. He passed away from cancer...the third immediate family member to do so.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see you post again. Sounds like you're having fun back in your RV again.
