Daughter Heather and grandson Jameson made the local news tonight

Our daughter Heather was shopping with her son Jameson and friend Connie today in Ashwaubenon...

On their way into Dollartree, they were stopped by a roving reporter on the local NBC TV26 news out of Green Bay.  He asked them questions about the economy and living paycheck to paycheck...

I think she did well, being put on the spot.   Our grandson Jameson was being held in her friend Connie's arms, so it looked like she was the one who was his momma!  LOL

Here is the video clip from the 6pm news:

They just aired another segment tonight at the 10 pm news,
so not sure which clip you will get to see when you get to the website.

Also, yesterday we got a surprise visit from my folks!  They were wheeling and dealing with Steveio involving a riding lawn mower, a snowmobile trailer, an old ATV and an air compressor and gosh knows what else.   I had about a 2 hour notice they were coming, so Chelsea and I baked apple pies!

Mom thinks the lower pie has a funny face on it...... okay?????  Ya right, Mom.... .whatever you say.....

We know Great Grandpa Lowell LOVES apple pies....  so little Chelsea was good as gold while I peeled sliced and rolled pie crusts. She sat in her little bouncy chair on the floor in the kitchen to offer advice and support.   My little baking buddy!

When the fols got here, we grilled out brats and burgers, had one pie for dessert and sent the other pie back home up to Michigan with them.   What a nice visit... and the guys got all the wheeling and dealing done!

Steveio also got the rear shocks done on the motorhome too.   Just in time to take it tomorrow for a five day camping getaway to our friends cabin up in the northwoods.

No crowded campground for us this weekend,
No fireworks scaring the dogs,
No kids running amok,
No all night drinking parties and loud music

Should be a lovely weekend....

Thursday ~~ Git Up and Go!

.

Well.. I started out my day with going to get the hose to water my tomatos.... hmmmmmmm

So that made me Git Up and Go... in the opposite direction!    LOL   Not sure what kind it is, but it was BIG and I left it alone.   That is a very thick rubber hose, not a skinny little lawn hose, in that picture.  Just to put his size in perspective!  As long as they stay OUTSIDE of my house, that is fine.  But if it was INSIDE, well, it would have drowned under a full can of insect killer, that is for sure.

Took care of bill paying this morning, then chatted with my sister in Lower Michigan and my mom in Upper Michigan.  We try to chat every morning on MSN Messenger.   My sister is still at her hubby's side who is undergoing rigorous radiation and chemo for 6 weeks at a hospital in Ann Arbor.  I think the daily computer contact is about the only thing keeping her sane after dealing with all the doctors, clinics and instructions.   Mom has been taking care of planting sister's garden at home and helping it to get a good start while they are away.   So we chatted and shared our mornings before the day gets underway.

My folks bought a new toy....

It's an exact match to my brother's Sportster...  what a bunch of copycats!   LOL  I am sure they will let Steveio and I take a buzz on it when we get up there too.   What fun!

On the camping front:  I ordered the second set of shocks (the rears) for our rig.  If you read my blog 2 weeks ago, you would have heard my ordeal with the front shocks and customer service.  So since those shocks DID fit, I bit the bullet and called them again to order the rear shocks.   One rear shock is fine on our rig, but Steve noticed a bit of seepage on the other shock.  So he is assuming that the rears should be done too.  Since we finally found a place that has the right parts, and it's a hard rig to locate parts for, we went ahead and ordered the rear ones.

See, Safari made their own chassis, with a sub company called Magnum, and didn't use a large commercial chassis company with common parts, like Freightliner or Workhorse.   Steve said the nuts are rusted on pretty tight, so he has been soaking them with penetrating fluid each time, and hopefully they will work loose by the time the new shocks come.  Otherwise he will have to torch them off.   But not until the new ones come, in case they are not the right ones.   ACK

The other day I had been planning to wash all the awnings on the rig.... . those plans got waylaid and I ended up spending the evening grooming doggers...  Being long haired fuzzy muttenhiemers, they take a long time!  They don't seem to have shed their winter coats right this spring, and still have a lot of attached winter undercoat on their bodies.  Warm baths and rigorous brushing is the best way to loosen it.  Duke enjoys it (as you can see) but Duchess (Ducky)  runs and hides!  haha

(not a very flattering pic of me, it was hot and I had been brushing snipping clipping and pedicures
for a while when Steve snapped this pic!)

So now I got an email from hunny-bun  Steveio at work, and he said let's do the awnings and a good rig washing tonight instead.  I would start it already today but I have sweetie pie Chelsea here till 3.

I went out and started up our fridge so it's cold later when I am ready to load in the groceries.   We will take off for the weekend, not sure where we will end up.  The weatherman is saying rain rain and more rain, but we don't really believe him anyhow.

So I guess I will go out and take stock and replenish my yarn supplies for what I used up last weekend, and figure what I am going to work on this weekend.

Campground Review- Bay Shore County Park – Brown County, Green Bay, WI – June 2009

(this is one of series of posts of various campgrounds we have been to over the years... I am going through my files in alphabetical order and posting past camping trips in my blog.... something to do over this long long upcoming winter---- sigh)

This campground is located about 10 miles north of Green Bay and is very close to my husband’s place of work.  So sometimes we come here during the week and he can commute to work easily.  Actually it is shorter than commuting from home!

Although there are 106 sites, they are in 4 separate loops so we are not subject to all the traffic going past our campsites.  Some sites are 30 amp, some are only 20 amp and some in one loop are rustic tenting sites.  There are three bathroom buildings, two are with showers and one with laundry.  An ice machine and soda machine at the entrance, along with a humungous picnic area overlooking the waters of the Green Bay.  In the kid’s playground is a big timber structure of a sailing ship, near the rentable pavilions and baseball diamonds.  Down the winding road through limestone cliffs is a nice harbor and boat launch, but not really much of a swimming beach or recreational area.

Many folks like to camp here – it’s all first come first served, no reservations- and then they can day trip up to Door County, a prime tourist area, and also into Green Bay to see the sights there…  $20 a night, and they have discounted rates for monthly camping too.

The website:
Cecil DePeau Bay Shore County Park

Every time we camp here, we are treated nicely by the county park rangers, and the park is well maintained, and closely monitored for noise and disturbances.  It’s one of the few places we go with hookups, E and W at the sites, and a dump station at the exit.

We usually like site number 79, but it was taken this time.  We like the quieter side of the campground, furthest from the highway.

My folks came down from Michigan for a short visit, on their way to get some motorcycle parts in Green Bay.  We had a nice visit, and my mother was curious about my laptop (she only has Web-TV at home)  and wanted to email to my sister while stopped by us.

My step-dad, Lowell, gave his thumbs up of approval!

Daughter Heather stopped by with the little guy, Jameson, just about 10 months old.  She hung out for awhile, and then we STOLE the kid for the rest of the weekend!

Daughter Erin stopped by too, just after her doc appt. where they confirmed her pregnancy!   (due in Jan 2010)   Here she is reading up on the stack of baby books she bought on her way to the campground!    She is resting in our zero-gravity recliners and said she just LOVED them.  We bought one the following week for her birthday!

We got in some special B-Ball playing….

Dumb Ducky (aka Duchess)  loves to be carried around like a parrot on Steve’s shoulder.  At least when she was a little puppy, it was easier.  Now that she is 50 pounds, it’s a tad bit more difficult?

Our future-son-in-law Jesse’s folks came out for a visit.  This is Kevin, Jesse’s dad

And this is Lisa, Jesse’s mom.  They just HAD to stop by and see the grandson.  It’s hard to go too long without seeing them, and since we were so close to their area, they stopped on by, shared a campfire and got in some cuddles with the little guy!

During the weekend, we got in quite a few stroller rides around the park.  Just look at how that little stinker propped up his feet and rose around in style!

The portable crib sets up perfectly in our rig between the front seats…..   but once he wakes up in the morning, we pop him into the king-sized bed between his Grandfaddah and Grandmuddah Pfun!

This little guy had to look out the windows in the morning, just to see what was going on in the campground.

Duke and Duchess are quite the well-behaved campground doggies.  And a swat with a fly-swatter can make them shush up if  they happen to utter a peep.   They sure enjoy the walks, the sniffing, and the attention they get when folks saw “Awwwww look at the Lassie dogs!”  Duke is only a sheltie, and much smaller.. so most kids ask if he is the *baby*….  how cute is that?

four generations

We managed to get a four generation camping picture of all of us…..

The folks are on the road to Florida!

(posted this on Thursday, and they called from Florida, safe and sound on Friday night)

Well, my mom and stepdad, Rita and Lowell, decided to bag this icky wintery mix weather and hit the road to get to their other home in Florida.  They closed up the house in Michigan and loaded the motorhome up to hit the road.  drivers side Poor mom was in such a tizzy, trying to remember what is packed, what is going, what is to be left in this house, what to take to that house, and what to use in between in the motorhome!   She made lists to her lists, and still isn’t too sure what is packed where.
The last thing to be packed was her precious WebTv unit.  My sister Linda helped her pack it up so she knows which cords to hook where when she gets it to her little pink office room in Florida.  It’s her only internet communication.  She won’t touch a laptop and is comfortable with her little WebTV and we use MSN messenger to communicate daily.  Each morning about 8:30 am, Mom, Linda and I meet up in our own little private chat room and talk to each other.  Linda is busy at work, so she has to come and go and glance in between projects, but enough to keep up with what we are gabbing about.
The weather is turning fast up this frozen Hallsway, and snowy weather coming on Saturday and again on Monday.   So they had the Holiday Endeavor diesel pusher ready with all their stuff.. then loaded the big Harley in the back of the toad pickup truck, (under a raised cap  that my brother helped him with before they left).  So the Beverly Hillbillies are headed south!  LOL

They just stopped by some relatives in the Champaign, Ill area and all is going good.  the folks on the road Aunt Charlene snapped this pic of them in their rig, just before they hit the road again tonight at 6pm.  Lowell is a retired truck driver, so nightime driving and racking up the miles is second nature to him.
Mom just rides along in her seat, working on crafts, making snacks, and being his co-pilot.  They crank up the country western and bluegrass music and mom sings along to the tunes…  They might rest for a few hours at a Wal-mart and hit the road again.  Knowing Lowell, the 1,500 miles to Florida will be flying by, and they will be there by Friday night or Saturday morning.
What a lovely life for them both.  halls at home Meeting just within the last ten years, they fell in love, got married and are living happily ever after!   They are wonderful, kind loving people who deserved to find each other and share the sunset years together.
All of us children are so happy for them.  They are like a couple of honeymooners and we all enjoy seeing them happy!

Oh… on another note… our little granddaughter to be is destined to be a Tom Boy.  (Erin was!)   So when shopping the other day, the girls found this little hunting outfit.  Mommy Erin dressed it up for their upcoming bundle of joy with a few pink bows.  Shhh this is a present for bow-hunting Daddy Mark at the baby shower.  Tee heeeeetomboy hunting outfit
