The Lakeflies have Erupted!

At High Cliff State Park, the annual lake fly hatching and mating ritual has begun.

The volume of insects swarming in the air is unbelievable!

Lake Fly Video
I am heading out to work on flower beds this morning, will post more later....

  1. Holy Cow! That's down right scary! I'd say the birds had a first!

  2. I guess you wouldn't dare open your mouth (grin).

  3. Be careful those flies don't carry you off.

  4. And I thought the love bugs were bad here in FL.! Oh my.... I would have to just stay indoors till that was over.... It does get over doesn't it lol

    1. The life span of lake flies is 10 to 14 days, but the Department of Natural Resources say they've seen more larvae in Lake Winnebago and that could mean a second wave in a couple of weeks.

  5. I think I would get the home on wheels n motion and escape till it's over!
