What I remember most was that she was a wonderful Avon lady, and always had a big bag of makeup, perfume samples, lipsticks and those ever-famous Avon cologne decanters! My middle name was named after my Auntie Ann. This is how I will always remember her.....
The weather was horribly hot again in Wisconsin, so when we got home from Michigan on Saturday night, we found it much easier to sleep out in the motorhome in the driveway with the AC on. Sure beats the heat and humidity in the third floor loft bedroom of the house!
This morning we woke up early, and I whipped up some tuna noodle salad and some fruit salad before it got too hot. That way it could chill in the fridge before lunch. Our son Dan, his wife Heather, and our grandchildren Allegra and Mason came to haul home a load of stuff!!!! And have lunch too, of course. We made up sub sandwiches and all the fixens, along with the salads and a big ole watermelon for desert.
We grandparents got in our cuddles and hugs, and I fed Mason his bottle while Allegra kept us entertained. Granfaddah Pfun got both of these wiggly little stinkers on his lap for a quick second so I could snap a pic. Allegra moves so fast, and little Mason who isn't even 4 months old yet, is rolling over the floor and trying to push himself along on his belly!
While we were playing with the grandtots, we had Heather and Dan going over piles of stuff on the kitchen counter and in a stack in the livingroom. They were not allowed to leave until they filled up at least two baskets of items to take off our hands! Plus they loaded up Great Grandma Wandry's table and chairs, our garden park bench, and a handcrafted side table that Steve had built. They looked like the Beverly Hillbillies going down the road! LOL
It was good to see all that stuff go, and the house is sounding more and more empty. It ECHOES inside already...
Now for each of the daughters Erin and Heather to come and get their loads out this week. There shouldn't be much of anything left!!!! 15 more days till we are HOUSELESS!
Hugs on the loss of your Aunt. Glad you were able to reconnect with so many family members. And enjoy the next 15 days. I am sure they will go by super fast.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of the loss of your aunt!!! Who gets excited about being homeless??? RVers thats who?!!
ReplyDeleteWow...getting closer, woo-hoo! We love to say we're homeless when people ask where we are from...Glad you were able to reconnect with family, but sorry to hear of the loss of your aunt.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry to hear about your Aunt....but what wonderful memories you have!!! I am glad you were able to reconnect with relatives and share the "technology links" we now have to stay in touch!! Full-timing will enable you guys to visit more often!
ReplyDeleteThe end is in sight!! It is wonderful that your kids will keep so many wonderful family keepsakes!! It is always nice to keep those items in the family and see them being used and loved by the next generation. AND you have visiting rites...YAY!!
They may have looked like the Beverly Hillbillies (wow, I guess that dates us) but they were missing Granny in her rocker. Of course, you could have filled that role with your beautiful grandkids... ;c)
ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss Karen.
ReplyDeleteKaren, I am so sorry for your loss but glad to share your memories. Time is both a friend and an enemy, but it is up to us to choose to enjoy every moment of the time we are given. Your Auntie Ann was obviously one who knew how to enjoy life to the fullest and to share that information with those around her. I know for a fact that you are alike in that area, as you share so much joy in your own life!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you as you count down the days (hours and minutes, too!) until you are out here on the road! I can't wait until our roads cross!!
Many hugs to you and yours!
Terry
Family will die. Memories will live forever and comfort you.
ReplyDeleteWow, two weeks and a day. It's been about that long since we became houseless! I'm tellin ya, it is WONDERFUL!
I am so sorry about the loss of your Aunt. It's sad but true that in this day and age the only time we have a large family gathering is at a funeral. I guess we have to take what we get and enjoy the moments we have. Excited for you... It will be here before you know it.
ReplyDeleteIt must make you feel good to see your treasured stuff go home with the kids. My taste is so different from my daughter and her New Zealander husband I don't think there is anything I have that they would want. Everything in their home is "modern" or beige. He tosses the newspaper out within minutes of reading it.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say farewell to loved ones... We know that well.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, it's good that your stuff can stay in the family and become part of your grandchildren's lives, too. Soon to be houseless but at home in your wonderful rolling abode. Hope you love it as much as we do.
Blessings & Shalom,
