But if it's a custom rug like the one I did last month for a friend in Texas, then I run a tape measure along with the rug as it's rolled up that is pinned to the first inch. I have learned that if I weave 13in under tension it becomes 12in when relaxed. I buy long 120 inch tape measures and if I have to I tape two of them together. but usually, I am just leaving for whatever I feel. Then once the rug is done I mark it and measure it and put it for sale on my Etsy site. Unless it sells before then locally or someone that sees it on my Facebook page and buys it direct.
